My mother was an extraordinary woman who raised a family of ten children with unwavering dedication, all while navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood. In a remarkable span of just ten years, she brought ten children into the world—an incredible feat that speaks to her strength and love. Below is the birth order of her twelve children, followed by a glimpse into the beautiful life she created for us.

  1. Colette

  2. Chuck

  3. Jeff

  4. Bob

  5. Tim

  6. Tom

  7. Mary

  8. John

  9. Peter

  10. Ted

  11. Cherie

  12. Michelle

Tragically, John and Peter, who were twins, passed away about an hour after their birth. Their loss was a profound sorrow for Mom, but her love for her twelve children never wavered. Raising ten of us was no small task, yet she approached motherhood with seriousness and joy, teaching us life skills that shaped who we are today.

A Mother’s Lessons in Love and Independence

Mom didn’t just raise us—she equipped us for life. She taught us how to do our own laundry, cook meals from scratch, clean the house, and even shop for groceries. But it wasn’t all chores and responsibilities; she made sure we knew how to have fun, too. I still smile thinking about the times she taught us how to dance, her laughter filling the room as we stumbled through the steps.

One of my fondest memories is of Mom playing badminton with us on Talley Street in Savannah, Tennessee. She wasn’t just a parent watching from the sidelines—she was right there in the game, swinging the racket and cheering us on. Whether it was badminton or other games, she loved spending time with us, creating moments that bonded our big family together.

A Legacy of Love

Mom’s ability to raise ten children while fostering such a warm, active household is nothing short of inspiring. I have shared much about my childhood in "Patchwork of Grace - Lessons from My Mother's Heart".

Thank you for reading about my incredible mother and her twelve children. If you’d like to learn more about our family’s story, check out my book for the full picture of the love, laughter, and lessons that defined our lives.
